Development Approval for our Youth Centre Project

Dear Members,

After nearly 18 months, The Board of Directors is pleased to advise the Club has received development approval for our Youth Centre project. The Sydney Planning Panel granted the Club approval on July 27 to develop the site on 8 Western Crescent Gladesville. The $21.6 million development will provide a 1,000 square metre Youth Club, a 50% increase in space. There will also be 34 Seniors Living units which will be used to provide ongoing revenue to the Club and 98 underground parking spaces which will help alleviate parking pressures on the Coulter St public car park.

Gladesville RSL Youth Club has been operating since 1950 and was the foundation of the statewide RSL Youth Club movement. The Club provides subsidized sporting activities, currently enjoyed by over 750 students participating in gymnastics, dance, karate and cricket. One of the objects of our Club is to provide sporting facilities and encourage participation in sport. We are very proud of our Youth Club and we see this development as being great for our community. The Board of Directors understands the value of children participating in sporting activities and it is important we can continue to subsidize these activities and encourage families to participate.

We are also continuing to take expressions of interest for the Seniors Living. If you have not already provided them, please register your contact details to seniorsliving@johan.dailypress.studio.

The ongoing revenue from the Seniors Living component secures the long term financial viability of Gladesville RSL Club. This is a very exciting time for the Club and we look forward to keeping you informed as the project commences. More details on this project will be provided to Members as it continues, updates will be posted here and on our Facebook page.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of Gladesville RSL,

James Butt
President
